I also resized that in my zeal I forgot to post images of details and showcasing the miniature feel to the work. Those images should be up by days end.

I often have several different project going at once, ideas form one piece feeding into another. I love learning about other creative processes and seeing things come together. So, over the next week I’ll show you some of the things I’m working on to give you an idea of how I work. Plus, I’m pretty excited about pieces I’m finishing up right now and just can’t wait to share.

Over the last week and a half I’ve been happily tearing apart an old book I found at Value Village. It was quite the find that has produced many fun projects. The most recent of which are these bonsai tree greeting cards. If you like them, they’re for sale on my Etsy site.

I’ve been taking a bit of a break from blogging and whatnot over the last six months. But, not to fear, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been hard at work in the studio.

I’ve actually stepped up my production a good deal. Over the next couple weeks I will post pics and update my Etsy page.

Today, for your viewing pleasure, I have some images of work I’ve done for friends in the last month. They are inspired by the fall and winter here in the Northwest.

I took some time off from my usual projects over the last couple weeks to work on some side projects. Mainly making decorations for my daughters 5th birthday.

I must say, I was quite happy with how things turned out—as was she. It was a fairy themed party. But, being that Evelyn is drawn to bright and playful things, it wasn’t the normal woodland colors. Using bright colored tissue paper pompoms interspersed with white paper fairies and colorful butterflies, I turned our house into a lively little fairyland. I just need to figure out what to do with all the decorations now that it’s over.

I also managed to finish up a few projects. The trees I posted about a while back are now ready to go. As are a few small scale pieces. I’m looking forward to starting in on some of the grander ideas I have and will hopefully have some photos of the beginnings to post in the next few days.

As promised, an inside look at some of the more lighthearted things I’m working on.

A few months back I made a miniature diorama as a gift for a friend. Sadly it got squashed. So, to replace the lost piece I deiced to go with something a bit more springy. Hence the trees.

While I was working on the first tree (pictured with the squirrel), I got an inspiration in the form of a small gnome gifted to me from my mom. Said gnome is a bit too cheerful for me, but after reworking his character through drawing I have come up with a little man that will make a cameo in several of my upcoming pieces.

I’m moving a bit away from birds for the time being. But will, no doubt, be back to them. Meanwhile, I’ve been working in our garden a bunch lately and have been delighted by the flowers. As a result I have been crafting many a flower and am now collaging them together with drawing and painting. I think the end product will be pretty pleasing.

I hope you enjoy. Keep an eye out, I’ll post the finished products of all these over the next week or two.

This was coming. I’ve always known that it would, eventually. Though it’s not happened the way imagined it would. I suppose I thought I would arrive here, starting to blog, kicking and screaming. With nothing to say and no real interest in it. But, now that I am I find myself with way more to say then anyone would want to hear.

For starters, I’ve been flooded with ideas lately. Ideas for paintings, sculptures, installations, and all manner or artsy things. Now the tough part; finding time to bring them to fruition.

Between raising our lovely girls, keeping house, and tending our growing garden I’m left with little time and energy. One blessing—amongst so many—I have noticed though; God has blessed the time I do have. I’m accomplishing more than I have in a long time, and in the midst of it I am overwhelmed with excitement and wonder at God’s creation.

A song that has been on my heart and expresses where I long to exist:

I pray that in all I do with my hands this would be evidenced.
